This is no Better time to go Polar Bear watching in the Tundra than in October – an amazing time to visit Churchill!
Churchill is a small town with only 800 residents. There is no road access, therefor all tourists and supplies must be transported by air or train into Churchill.
Beginning in October each year, polar bears gather here, waiting to sit on the ice flows, the bears move to the Hudson Bay to hunt for the winter season.
At this time, Churchill’s nickname “more bears than people.”

The First Leg in Churchill
The airline ticket can be prepared in advance for an additional cost of CAD 890 , arrived at 2000 Wellington Ave, Winnipeg, Manitoba (YWG) Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport by yourself on Monday, October 23rd, 2023 take CalmAir Flight number MO134, departing at 9:30 am to Churchill (YYQ)
At 1 pm Our staff will warmly welcome you at Churchill Airport to start the first day of the polar bear tour.
Town and Area Tour
A two-hour town and area tour starts after check-in with a fascinating visit to the ‘Eskimo’ Itsanitaq Museum followed by the Polar Bear International research facility and Park Canada Visitors Center.
Tundra Buggy Day Tour
The official Tundra Buggy® offers the exclusive chance to travel into the Churchill Wildlife Management Area (CWMA) for wildlife viewing and photography. Venturing out on a set of established trails to minimize the impact on the tundra, the Tundra Buggy will take you into areas with a high probability of wildlife sightings. These areas are the best locations in the Churchill area to experience wildlife in their natural environment.
At 7:30 am, From the iceberg inn, we will begin our special, small group tundra buggy tour to view and photograph the majestic polar bear, we will have ample opportunity to quietly watch these animals as they go about their day. Refreshments will be provided during the buggy tour.
Historical Site Tour
The excursion is led by experienced photographer, Angela Mak. cruising in her mini buggy or 2018 Ford King Ranch visit all of Churchill’s fascinating local historical sites including Cape Merry Batters, Miss piggy plane wreck, Polar bear jail, and the MV Ithaca shipwreck, member will have a break at the Northern study center and continue to visit the rocket research range, abandoned ‘Golf Ball’ radar station, and launch road, where it is sometimes possible can be seen, such as the Polar Bear, Snowy Owl, Ptarmigan, Arctic Fox, and Arctic Hare.
EYES TO EYES ADVENTURE
The excursion is led by experienced photographer, Angela Mak, cruising in her mini buggy or 2018 Ford King Ranch, in searching for wildlife along the shores of Hudson Bay. On this exciting expedition, we explore all of Churchill’s hidden trails, where it is sometimes possible can be seen, such as the Polar Bear, Snowy Owl, Ptarmigan, Arctic Fox, and Arctic Hare.
Dog sledding tour
If you thought polar bear watching was great, just wait until you try running a dog team! Mushing yourself or riding on the sled is the perfect complement to polar bear watching and another iconic artic memory which will never leave you.
